Organization Overview:

   Voters Not Politicians is a nonpartisan organization that defends and promotes policies that strengthen democracy. Michigan’s government must truly represent the will of the people, all votes must count equally, and all voices must be heard. Our representatives must not be unduly influenced by lobbyists or special interests or motivated by personal gain.

Project Name:
Proposal 22-2 av ballot drop box policy analysis
Project Type:
Data Analysis
Impact Analysis
Project Overview:

In 2022, Michigan voters passed proposal 22-2, a voting rights omnibus constitutional amendment. One of the policies required by prop 22-2 was that every voting jurisdiction is required to have one av ballot drop box, and an additional av ballot drop box for every 15,000 registered voters. The drop boxes must be equitably distributed throughout the municipality. Since the passage of prop 22-2, we have been tracking drop box locations, but lack the capacity to analyze if there are enough drop boxes to satisfy the minimum requirement, or if they are equitable distributed.

Deliverable(s):

 - An accounting of the number of drop boxes per 15,000 voters in each municipality
   - An analysis of equitable distribution of the drop boxes
   - Recommended changes

Project Timeline:

We would ideally have this data to share with stakeholder organizations and the Michigan Dept of State by March. (Accelerated Timeline - if you would like to do this project, come speak with me (SMK))
