Fels welcomes Richard Cordray for the Public Policy in Practice speaker series

Richard Cordray, politician, lawyer, and writer joined the Fels community to share his experiences in public service, arguing cases before the Supreme Court, and as a “Jeopardy!” contestant.

Fels Public Policy in Practice speaker series ended the fall semester with a conversation with Richard Cordray, the first Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Richard is also the author of a new book, Watchdog: How Protecting Consumers Can Save Our Families, Our Economy, and Our Democracy.

In the Q&A, moderated by Distinguished Fellow Elizabeth Vale, Richard shared his experiences serving at the CFPB, authoring his book, and his time arguing cases before the Supreme Court. When asked why he chose a life of public service, Richard explained that public service had a special thrill for him, and he enjoys that it’s all about others. The audience was also treated to stories about Richard’s “Jeopardy!” winning streak.
