Re:CAP Recommends Government reform must start at the White House by G. Edward DeSeve for The Philadelphia Inquierer

Who: DeSeve is Co-Chairman of the Transition 2016 initiative, launched by the National Academy of Public Administration, and an Executive in Residence at Brookings Executive Education. He has held senior-level positions in both the Obama and Clinton Administrations.

What: Given the current widespread distrust for the US federal government, DeSeve argues that a major initiative of the new administration should evaluate and create new standards for government programs and regulations across the board.

Takeaway: DeSeve, who recently revised and re-released The Presidential Appointee's Handbook, outlines priorities for such an initiative and suggests the Vice President take the lead. He articulates how the government should "do the right things well" and provides considerations that can be applied widely throughout the public sector.
