Alex Bird

ImpactED Fellow

Alex Bird is pursuing a dual graduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Public Administration and Education Policy. After graduating from Bucknell University in 2013, Alex taught elementary school for two years in rural Louisiana as a Teach For America corps member. At the end of her two-year commitment, she went on to work in the Office of Talent at the School District of Philadelphia, where she managed the recruitment and selection of Elementary teachers (K-6) District-wide. Alex is continually seeking ways to deepen her understanding of the educational landscape in Philadelphia. More broadly, she is interested in K-12 education policy and reform, particularly in the context of exploring systems and structures that preserve and sustain inequity.
