Fundraising for a Vocational Institute in Myanmar

Organization:
Youth Society for Education
Organization Overview:

YSE's mission is to provide school facilities, supplemental educational assistance programs, and school supplies to underprivileged students around the world and help them achieve a better future.

Project Name:
Vocational Institute in Myanmar
Project Type:
Marketing/Fundraising Plan
Project Overview:

Myanmar is one of the developing countries where majority population lives on less than $5 per day. Due to the lack of strong educational system, human resource is not well prepared for skill-demanding jobs available within the country. As a result, human trafficking, drug abuse and poverty are prevalent issues in Myanmar. Our aim is to provide vocational training such as basic computer skill, mechanic skill, tailoring and culinary skill for local people and help them attain better jobs, and ultimately better lives inside their country.

YSE has built and donated a library in Bago (Myanmar) in 2016. Now in 2018, we are tirelessly working to initiate our five-to-eight-year-long project of establishing a vocational institute in Mingalardon (Myanmar). YSE youths are consistently creating and looking for fundraising opportunities to implement the project and practically make it happen. We had raised over $5,000 (and counting) through a Facebook fundraiser in November, and the collected money would be soon applied to purchase a land in Mingalardon. Nonetheless, we will be doing more fundraisers and applying grants to fully accomplish our project from installing buildings to offering training courses.

The marketing/fundraising intern will be assigned or challenged to produce a fundraising plan. The Executive Team will evaluate the project plan and provide resources for implementation. At the end of interning period, the intern is required to submit a project reflection and a financial report.

As an overview of who we are, YSE is a very dynamic youth-run organization. Kyaw Tun Naing, the CEO and founder of YSE, is currently attending Pennsylvania College of Optometry: Kyaw founded YSE when he was 21 years old. Our acting EDs and officers are also self-motivated college students with brilliant minds to help others.

Deliverable: The marketing/fundraising intern will be challenged to produce a fundraising plan or work on a grant application. The Executive Team will evaluate the project plan and provide resources for implementation. At the end of interning period, the intern is required to submit a project reflection and a financial report.
