Inclusive Public Leadership: How to Organize Your Community

Wednesday, February 22, 2017 - 4:00pm
Event Information:

Fels is pleased to welcome Anton Moore, President and founder of Unity in the Community, a non-profit organization dedicated to changing the lives of others in South Philadelphia.  He is the third speaker in our civic skills workshop series focused on developing tools for inclusive public leadership.

Anton began organizing his community to combat gun violence and poverty more than 12 years ago.  For the past 5 years, Unity in the Community has planned and organized numerous philanthropic initiatives including Peace Week, Ultimate Prom Experience, Thanksgiving Community Feast, Operation Holiday Help and a celebrity-packed summer concert and block party. Anton spoke at the Democratic National Convention

Anton’s workshop will be guided by the following questions:

  • How did you get started as an organizer? What is your story and your strategy?
  • What kind of events and engagement get people involved politically?
  • What advice would you give people who want to organize their communities?

Participants should review the Unity in the Community website and read the article “Who is Anton Moore: Meet the Philly Leader Speaking at the DNC”.  Participants can also watch his 2-minute DNC speech.

The workshop is open to Fels students.  It will begin promptly at 4:00p.m. and conclude before FSA Game Night.
