Project Name:
Transportation Registration Processes
Project Type:
Program Development; Data Analysis
Project Overview:

The goal of this project is to integrate school registration with automatic application for transportation for eligible students. This project will require developing and implementing a Web App that uses GIS to determine transportation eligibility. The project will also require working with school partners and streamlining transportation processes in the District.

If funding becomes available, the Fels student/students will also have the opportunity to design and pilot a "Walking School Bus" program. The Fels students will work with the school and community to develop "walk" stops along a planned route. Fels students would also help coordinate the sign-up of parent guides to partner with potential paid staff. Many Camden students must walk through dangerous conditions on their way to school, and this program would greatly enhance their safety.

The student will create a Web App that will utilize maps of walk-zones for each school to automatically submit transportation applications for students when they register for schools. Camden City students can choose between local public, charter, and Renaissance schools when they register for school. Registration takes place throughout the year. The student will need to work closely with school partners to develop and streamline new transportation registration process.

A potential second deliverable is implementation of a Walking School Bus program at Wiggins Elementary School.
