Josh Power, Ed.D.

Director of Admissions and Graduate Studies, Fels Institute of Government

Josh Power is the Director of Admissions and Graduate Studies at the Fels Institute of Government. In that role, he is responsible for recruitment and enrollment management, academic and career advising, student life, and faculty support.

Before joining Fels, Josh was a co-founder and Associate Director of the Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University (ACESJU), an innovative two-year graduate fellowship program for urban elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators. Prior to that, Josh served as the Associate Director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Fox Leadership Program, an undergraduate leadership development and service-learning program. During his five years as associate director, he led the Fox Program’s student volunteer efforts, including the nation’s largest school-based mentoring initiative and alternative spring break, summer internship, and yearlong fellowship programs in post-Katrina New Orleans.

Josh has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Fels and the Political Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania, and in the Teacher Education Department at Saint Joseph’s University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Saint Joseph’s University, a master’s degree in Education, Culture and Society from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Joseph's University. His doctoral research considers the impact of community support and reflective practice on the experiences and attitude of novice teachers.
