Janet F. Rosenzweig

Executive Director, The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children

Janet has enjoyed a three-decade career in social work and public administration.  She was the founding director of the Project Against Sexual Abuse of Appalachian Children, executive director of Girls Clubs of Dallas and research analyst for the New Jersey Department of Human Services. She served for 9 years in the cabinet for Mercer County, N.J. as the human services director and spent 7 years as the executive director of the New Jersey chapter of Prevent Child Abuse-America. In those roles she has managed multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets and been both a grant-maker and grant seeker. Janet served as the acting executive director of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and spent 2011 writing The Sex-Wise Parent, The Parent’s Guide for Protecting Your Child and  Strengthening Your Family. As well as working for Prevent Child Abuse-America, she  manages an active consulting practice with non-profit organizations, and blogs at health.  

Janet has taught at Penn State, Rutgers University, Rider University, The College of New Jersey, Montclair State University and Temple University and offered continuing education courses for Rutgers University and Harvard’s Kennedy School.

Janet holds a BS in Family Studies, an MS in Health Education, both from The Pennsylvania State University; a PhD in Social Work from Rutgers University and  a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School.

Course Description:

The course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the primary financial management issues and decisions that confront senior management in nonprofits and government. Students will examine financial analysis techniques from both a practical and strategic perspective as they examine operating and capital decisions. The objective of the course is to allow the student to understand how managers integrate the various discrete financial decisions within a broader framework that allows them to analyze, develop and execute a coherent overall financial strategy.
