Friday, February 16, 2024 - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET

Join us on February 16 in the Perelman Auditorium for a special event that features a panel discussion on supporting survivors of violence with a networking reception immediately following. The panel session will include a live podcast taping for Obscured. The Obscured Podcast, produced by Kouvenda Media, dives into critical stories that unfold largely out of the public eye, discussing their complexities and exploring potential solutions.

The conversation will focus on how policy takes shape to support survivors of violence, the definition of crime versus violence to qualify for support, the impact of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and challenges like funding cuts and underreporting of violence. Students will have the opportunity to join the conversation surrounding policy challenges and solutions.

Sponsored by Women of Fels, Obscured, the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia, and Morgan State University's Department of Nursing.

The panelists include:

  • Dr. Maija Anderson, Associate Professor, Chair, Department of Nursing, Morgan State University
  • Adara Combs, Esq., Victim Advocate, City of Philadelphia Office of the Victim Advocate
  • Natasha Danielá de Lima McGlynn, MPA '20, Executive Director, Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia
  • Jahlee Hatchett, Attorney, Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin

Plan to join us for this important discussion and unique opportunity to explore policy in action and network!
