Ira Harkavy
Ira Harkavy is Associate Vice President and founding Director of the Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania. As Director, he has helped develop service learning and academically-based community service courses as well as participatory action research projects that involve faculty and students from across the University, working with the West Philadelphia community. Dr. Harkavy has been actively involved in partnering colleges and universities with local public schools and their communities. He has earned national recognition from Campus Compact with the Thomas Ehrlich Award for service learning and was the winner of the 2004 Alumni Award of Merit. Professor Harkavy received both his baccalaureate and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
