Description: Senator Obama will create an agency within the Corporation for National and Community Service dedicated to building the capacity and effectiveness of the nonprofit sector. The main purpose of the agency will be to improve the coordination of federal programs and nonprofits, streamline the process for obtaining funds, and remove barriers for smaller nonprofits that wish to partake in government programs. In addition, the agency will make grants to build the infrastructure of the nonprofit sector in areas such as managing volunteers, improving outcomes, and ensuring accountability.
