Delivering Public Services: Penn Interdisciplinary Seminar Series

Purpose & Approach:

Delivering Public Services is a Seminar Series at the University of Pennsylvania sponsored by the University Provost’s Office, the Fels Institute of Government, and the School of Social Policy and Practice.

This seminar series engages leaders from the public, non-profit, and private sectors in discussions surrounding the following questions:

-How can governments get value for taxpayer's money in delivering public services?
-How can we restore citizen faith in public sector institutions and services?
-Are traditional public service delivery mechanisms relevant to modern society?
-How can all of the resources of civil society be mobilized to deliver excellent public services?
-How can networks of public, private, and non-profit partners help to enhance service delivery?

Delivering public services seminars are attended by students, staff, and engaged citizens from across the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia area. The objectives of the seminar are to generate interest, discussion, and thought on these questions and to advance innovative ideas and proposals for public services.

The seminar series is administered by the Fels Institute of Government of the University’s School of Arts and Sciences. The Institute hopes to attract speakers with exemplary academic, political, and international reputations in the field to stimulate the intellectual endeavor required to address these vital issues for the future of government and public services.
