Course Description: This seminar, offered in conjunction with the Provost’s IDEAS IN ACTION series, the Fox Program, and the Fels Institute, will engage students in field work and meetings with top federal, state, and local government officials, community leaders, journalists, private foundation executives, and others, all with the purpose of developing outside-the-box strategic action plans for Philadelphia’s new mayor. The foci will be the three issues that have mattered most to local residents: crime, education, and jobs. On each issue, the seminar’s task groups will produce detailed policy blueprints for innovative public-private, religious-secular partnerships.
