Steve Lloyd '59 received the Joseph B. Shane Alumni Service Award for outstanding service and commitment at Swarthmore College's 2007 Alumni Weekend. This award is given annually to one person.

Richard Keevey '67,
Director of the Policy Research Institute for the Region at the Woodrow Wilson School, has recently been elected to the National Academy of Public Administration.

Jorene Jameson '71
is the new Vice President and Chief Development Officer for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, FL. A 13-year YMCA veteran, Jameson most recently served as CEO for the Girl Scouts in Dallas, Texas. She has held positions in financial development and operations for YMCAs in Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Orange County, CA. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, Jameson served in state and local government in Delaware. She held appointed positions serving two Wilmington Mayors, the New Castle County Executive, and the Governor of Delaware. Jorene is a Certified Fundraising Executive and lives with her husband, James Wylie, in Deerfield Beach.

is now working for the Gesu School in Philadelphia.

is now a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton.

Robert Carlson '88
has been a Foreign Service officer with the US Department of State for over 19 years. He is currently the chief of the Political, Economic, and Commercial Section of the US Consulate General in Naples, Italy. He lives with his wife, Miryam, and their little daugther, Diana.

Wayne Smith '88
has retired after more than 16 years as a member of the Delaware House of Representatives, the last 10 of which he served as House Majority Leader. Wayne has a accepted a new position as President and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association, the trade group for Delaware's hospital industry. Wayne continues to teach State Elective Politics at Fels in the Fall. He and his wife Lisa live in Wilmington, DE, with their 4 children.

Mary Sladek '89
has joined the NASA Headquarters Office of Education as the Outcome Manager for Informal Education. Before joing NASA, she worked for 18 years at the National Science Foundation (NSF). 

Carolyn Cavicchio '9

is now Senior Research Associate, Global Corporate Citizenship, for The Conference Board in New York. She was previously a consultant in corporate philanthropy to Fortune 500 companies across the U.S. She is also an adjunct professor at the Heyman Center for Philanthropy at NYU.

was recently elected to the New Jersey Senate.

has joined Janney Montgomery Scott as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director.

Nancy Burd '94
has left the Philadelphia Foundation, where she served as Vice President for Grantmaking Services, to found The Burd Group.

Donna Ann Harris '94
recently returned to Philadelphia from Chicago. She is the principal of Heritage Consulting Inc., a firm with three practice areas: historic preservation, downtown and commercial district revitalization, and nonprofit organizational development. 

Jack Thomas Tomarchio '95
was recently promoted from Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Intelligence and Analysis at the US Dapartment of Homeland Security to Deputy Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis Operations, US Dapartment of Homeland Security.

Michael Davidson '97
joined the law firm of WolfBlock in August as counsel in its real estate practice group; he will also be a member of the public finance, government assisted, and affordable housing practice groups.

Kent Reichert '99
and his wife Amanda welcomed their second child, Vandellos "Van" Mack Reichert-Facilides, born at Bryn Mawr Hospital on November 16, 2007. Kent is Director of Financial and Policy Analysis for the Philadelphia City Controller.

Rob Nixon '00
was the featured Republican Strategist on the October 23rd edition of New Jersey Now, a public affairs program. Rob also co-teaches Government Relations at Fels.

Kristin Fairweather '01 and Holly Maher '01
launched Metropolitan Moms, designed for women who "crave culture and adult conversation, and who don't want to leave their little ones at home," in September. The group was recently featured in the Inquirer.

is now the Director, Office of Real Estate, Maryland Department of Transportation.

Adam J. Cohen '02
has joined the Rockville-based law firm of Stein, Sperling, Bennett, De Jong, Driscoll & Greenfeig, where he will provide both legal and legislative counsel to local governments and associations as part of the firm's municipal law section, as well as practice in the firm's business law section.

Animit Bhattacharya '03

 currently a project manager at the U.S. Treasury Dept., recently received 3 awards: 1) a Special Act Performance Award for his leadeship in implementing the latest version of an automated check inventory system at 3 regional centers throughout the country; 2) a group award as part of a special ad hoc team tasked with reclaiming $15 million in overpayments that were erroneously released and; 3) a special assignment by upper management to research and present a thorough analysis on some of the agency's control weaknesses that led to the error and means to prevent it in the future. For his report and recommended solutions, he received a management spot award.

has been appointed the University of Pennsylvania’s first environmental sustainability coordinator and senior facilities planner, responsible for Penn’s sustainability strategy, including energy conservation, waste management, green buildings, transportation and planning...read more.

Jeanette Lewis '03
has relocated to NYC after spending four and a half years on the West Coast. She is now working at the World Lung Foundation in New York City as Special Assistant for the Management and Planning Department. 

Bart Marsh '03
has accepted orders to Joint Forces Command Washington Liaison Office reporting in March 2008. He is a LCDR in the US Navy working military issues in both the Pentagon and Capitol Hill for the Joint Forces Commander, GEN James N. Mattis.

Rob Powelson '03
has been nominated to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Rob is currently the President of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce.

has joined Pennrose Properties, LLC, as a Development Associate.

and her husband Jamie welcomed a daughter, Ella Pearl Meo Hayman, on June 16th and love being parents. Christina continues to serve as director of government affairs at Mulroy, LiCausi & Gibbs in Trenton.

Michael Masch '04
, Pennsylvania Secretary of the Budget and Fels Faculty member, has recently been elected to the National Academy of Public Administration. With Masch's election, the Fels Institute of Government now numbers three NAPA fellows among its faculty, including Ed DeSeve and Don Kettl.

Phil Selden '04recently testified before the Maryland State Senate as part of his confirmation hearing to become Chairman of the statewide Maryland Board of Airport Zoning Appeals. Phil was appointed to this position by Maryland Governor Martin J. O’Malley. Phil appreciates the assistance of two Fels alums: Matt Gallagher ’97 (Deputy Chief of Staff, Governor O’Malley) and Chris Patusky ’01 (Director, Office of Real Estate, Maryland Department of Transportation) for their guidance throughout the process.

was elected to her first term as a member of Town Council in Stratford, CT.

Regina Grebla '05
finished her MPH at Columbia University in May and is currently a Ph.D. student in Epidemiology through the Department of Community Health at Brown University. She serves as the Graduate School Representative to the Campus Planning Advisory Board and is working as a Project and Financial Management Consultant for Kan-Pak, LLC, in Connecticut.

Denise Finley '07 is the new Associate Director of the National Bone Marrow Transplant Link in Michigan.

Anthony Gil '07, Assistant District Attorney for Montgomery County, PA, was interviewed regarding a stalking and harassment case that he recently prosecuted...read more. He was also interviewed regarding his prosecution of an elected Montgomery County constable for official oppression...read more.

Frank Igwe '07 successfully defended his dissertation at Penn State this January, and is now a Fellow at Harvard University (The Hauser Center).
